|
This area assists
2,654 older people over 60 years old who live in poverty and
need support to solve their problems.
Through different programs, Hogar de Cristo contributes to
their well being, and to the improvement of their dignified
living conditions, favoring their autonomy and promoting their
reintegration into their family as well as their communities.
One of our significant lines of action is to strengthen the
role families have in the older adult well-being. This is
so in order to promote this fundamental resource to improve
their quality of life. |

PROGRAMAS:
1) House
Assistance Program (PADAM)
It is intended to support the older adult living in
poverty, and/or the family taking care of them, in
an attempt to avoid his/her health impairment and
to meet his/her needs through services contributing
to and facilitating their autonomy.
This program supports, whether transitorily or on
a permanent basis, 788 older adults and their families
– if they live with them- and provides them
with psychological and social services, materials
and health-related services. |
| |
|
 |
2) Senior
Day Care Center Program
It is a daily assistance system focused on prevention
that promotes the organization and participation of
606 older adults in 15 Centers within the Metropolitan
Region.
From Monday to Friday, from 8.30 to 18.00 hrs, older
people carry out different activities in order to
keep their mental and physical capacities, avoid isolation
as well as advanced mental deterioration.
|
| |
|
 |
3) Residential
Program - Self-managed Residences
They are houses shared, whether on a temporary or
permanent basis; they are organized as small lodging
units, for mutual assistance and coexistence among
those living there.
They are located near the Senior Day Care Centers
so that users may have the possibility to participate
in the activities during the day.
|
| |
|
 |
4) Protected
Homes
Older people who enter this system have different
levels of deterioration which require a specialized
care. They do not count with appropriate familiar
support to continue living independently or participating
in Senior Day Care Centers or House Assistance Program.
In addition to meeting their basic
needs, these Homes are intended to provide psychological
and social guidance in a way to promote the strengthening
of the family support network to the older adult.
