(PARENTESIS) Foundation

1) Origins and Sense
(PARENTESIS) Foundation is originated by the merge of the Hogar de Cristo Social Risk Area and Credho Foundation. Both organizations have been working for decades to develop highly technical and specialized programs for people with psychological and social problems. The actions carried out by this foundation are based on universal principles and values that recognize the dignity of human beings, their rights and obligations, as well as their social nature.

(PARENTESIS) represents the need of not judging people but receiving them as they are, by promoting spaces of freedom. To put into brackets, the name of the Foundation, means that painful or problematic experiences can be transitory in people’s life, and those experiencing them are not defined themselves and identified by these painful experiences.

2) Consultancy and Training

Our purpose is to offer our experience and technical training to the community through:

- The development and implementation of preventive and assistance policies and programs as to alcohol and drugs abuse focused on: Companies; Educational communities (students, teachers, and families); Civil and Government Organizations;

- Specialized training in therapeutic models and techniques for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependent individuals;

- Courses and workshops on psychological and social, personal and professional development;

- Internships and Professional Practice in social and clinical programs of (PARENTESIS) Foundation

3) Clinical Programs

The idea is to develop and implement highly technical and specialized clinical programs and services for people with alcohol problems and drug abuse, and their families. These programs are focused on health care and the promotion of well-being. We have an interdisciplinary work team formed of psychologists, psychiatrists, family therapists, social assistants, and rehabilitation specialists.

- Residential Clinical Program. Focused on men and women older than 20 years old who present drug abuse and who need a residential model for treatment;

- Transitory Clinical Programs. They are treatment programs (day and night) for young people and adults, who present alcohol and drug abuse, and who need transitory and flexible treatment programs;

- Telephone guidance
Assistance Phone 188-800-200-200. (Free service throughout Chile)
It is available for people and institutions, aimed at receiving and guiding people on issues related to drug abuse.

4) Social Programs

The objective of these programs is to receive, support and offer specialized assistance to people who live in specially vulnerable situations and social exclusion, by promoting their dignity and social inclusion. These programs are based on one hand on the respect of people’s rights and on the other on highly technical knowledge and methodologies.

We receive children, young people and adults through the following programs:

- Free therapeutic programs for young people and adults who present drug abuse. This program is carried out in transitory and residential models.

- Nursery and kindergarten assistance for those children whose mothers are involved in a residential therapeutic process;

- Free specialized and timely legal assistance to minors who are or have been deprived of freedom, due to trials in crime and/or minor courts (imprisonment, under discernment statement, under criminal procedure or illegally deprived of freedom);

- Support to the development as well as social and family reintegration of teenagers deprived of freedom.
